Cat Mum

I don't know why I write a lot about the most demanding boy in our home, Altuis but here I am today willing to tell you a little bit about this sweet boy of ours life.

Altius was born in Ballan on 26/10/2011

Altuis along with his brother Matthias joined our home on the 3rd of December 2011.

While they were brothers they could not be more different in personality, with Altius being the dare devil, always prowling around and pouncing onto his brother while Matthias was more gentle and affectionate, always wanting to be close to me or one of the kids.

My son Jiedyn was 5yo and in Kindergarten while Nevaeh was just a little 2 year old tot.

Our two little kitties enjoyed being around the kids whether they be lounging watching tv in the lounge room, reading books in their rooms, playing with toys or on the swing set and slide in the backyard.

Jie was more soft and kind to the new arrivals where as little Miss Nevaeh had other plans often trying to dress them up, bath them, lock them in cupboards or draws when playing hide and seek or even once coloring them in with texters.

In 2015 our little home of Myself, two kids and two cats where joined with two more kids when I took my sisters two youngest children in and about two months later grew again with me opening my door to my two eldest nieces.

The cats now had so many people to look up to for love and affection and the kids would often use their pocket money for toys and treats for our beautiful boys.

Sadly in 2015, our littlest boy passed away.

Matthias was burried under our front tree.

Altius seemed a little lost without his brother for a while, but all the kids were there to love on him and made sure he was never alone.

Altius, after Matthias passed actually became more settled and quiet and quite charming. He was never as affectionate as he became after Matthias was gone.

But with everyone there for him he also became more demanding.

He would meow at the door to go in and out (he was toilet trained to pee and poop outdoors) and would have us all up and down all hours of the night tending to him.

He also demand fed, so he would meow at one of us at a time to feed him and often times get two-five meals a day which made him a big cat.

In 2020 when my nieces and nephew moved away Altius felt a little lost.

Myself and my children developed depression those first few months and while Altius was so demanding we tried as best we could to be there for him as well as each other.

There has been a lot of changes for our sweet boy including the introduction of my partner.

Altius (and our dog Max) lost rights to my bedroom at night when David moved in, but soon both of them found their new way of life to be just as good with lots more pats and treats from David whom embraced them with open arms.

Next month, Altius will be 13 years old!

He is slowing down and sticking close mostly to David and Jie (whom is now 18yo and still so soft and gentle with Altius).

He has been the one constant apart from me in my childrens lives since we got him as a kitten.

As I watch him slow down, it's hard to know that one day he wont be with us.

And join his brother under the tree in the front yard.

He has been the most loyal, loving, crazy, fun and feisty cat we could have ever asked for.

And we all love him dearly.

Altius sounds like such a sweetie and it does sound like he adjusted well to so many changes.
