Christmas 2018

Christmas this year was spent with my Dad and his family in Boronia.

Christmas Morning Justine come and woke all of us up to open our gifts. My phone was flat from the night before so I couldn't get many photos but I did manage to use Jeanette's phone to capture a few.

The highlights of the morning was Hiram leaping off the floor to give me a great big hug after opening his new Kyrie 5 Basketball shoes. Justine's beautiful big brown eyes lighting up when opening her new Art Set and Jeanette randomly crying when she realized she was now a proud owner of a Kathmandu Jacket ($400 reduced to $200!) and Nike TNs!

The kids had a bit of time to play/try shoes on before we got ready for the long drive to Pop's.

Here are some family photos of us enjoying lunch together..

Another Heart to Jesus!

Who:
My daughter Nevaeh, aged 9yo

What:
Asked Jesus into her heart.

When:
23-12-2018

Where:
Enjoy Church (Melton Campus)
3/142-144 High St, Melton

Why:
"Because I love Him"
"Because He is real."
"And because I believe in Him!"

How:
Nevaeh was sitting in the row back from me. She was beside Justine and teaching her to bow her head and close her eyes to pray. When Pastor Ash did the Alter call with every head bowed Nevaeh put her hand up to receive Jesus for the first time. Because my head was bowed I didn't realize although because she was right behind me I could here her prayer asking Jesus to forgive her sins and become her personal Lord and Savior forever.

I now share my daughter with the Lord!
And she too will always have a Father..

On the 1st day of Christmas

As per tradition in our home we usually wait until the first of December to start decorating for Christmas. But this year we started early. Mostly because I had planned to attend another tradition of ours (Knox City Carols) with my Dad which was also scheduled on the first; don’t ask why.. So I chose to attend Carols and put everything up early.

This year I went shopping for the perfect tree. With a winter wonderland theme in mind I found our perfect tree, wreaths, bunting, decorations and lights pretty close to home!

We had most of the indoor stuff done after the 29th (Jiedyn’s birthday) of November and the 1st of December.

But at the last moment, Dad cancelled his plans to attend Carols to attend his works Christmas BBQ. And so, on the first we opted for setting up an outdoor Christmas Display!

Janai put most of it up and the kids had dinner on a blanket in the front yard to wait as it got dark.

Our 2018 Advent Calendar

This years calendar is a mix of good deeds, family and community festive fun.

This year it has been about out with the old and in with the new.

Of course we are keeping our favorite traditions but not without spicing things up a little too.

I'm not going to give too much away, you'll have to be following our insta (MelOfBacchus) or reading along each day to check out what we'll be getting up to next!

And may your Christmas countdown be as awesome as ours..

Lakes Entrance: Day 1

Dad and I had been planning this trip for three months. Our first trip together with all the kids, his new wife and her two kids.

It was a four and a half hour drive from my drive way to the holiday house we had booked on AirBNB so after packing the car and filling it with petrol (thank God we did this in Bacchus Marsh and not on the highway) we were well on our way. The kids put up with my playlist of Madonna, Belinda Carlisle, Britney Spears, Matchbox Twenty, Savage Garden etc the whole way and unbelievably didn't ask me to change a single song!

As we were going through Trafalgar I asked Jeanette to message Anita to see if she was home and if she could grab her address so we could surprise her with a visit. Anita had been around when the Jeanette and Janai were growing up and Nan was still alive. The kids shared so many firsts with Anita standing right along side them including Jie's first steps. Now Anita is a Mama herself to two beautiful little girls so we couldn't wait to meet them.

It was beautiful to see the warm embrace that was given to the kids by Anita and them to her. And there was such an instant bond with her two girls. It truly was a sight to see.

After having lunch, catching up a little and snapping some pics we were back on the road.

The drive from Traralgon to Lakes was a total nightmare but with the kids bellies full they fell asleep making it a little less stressful.

Dad called to see how far away we were and from that phone call I knew exactly where he would be.

30 minutes later, just as I had suspected, he was waiting by the Tambo River with a can and a cigarette in his hand.

And that is when our Holiday officially began!
