Hot Chocolates were on our advent calendar as an activity again this year because what is Christmas without a mug of chocolatey goodness?

And the weather couldn't be more perfect..

Donate this Christmas

This year we donated to our local food bank.

Nevaeh, Justine and I filled a trolley with loads of goodies for our neighbours in need to enjoy this holiday season.

With $150 we bulk bought some of our holiday favourites and threw in 6 Gingerbread making kits!

Will you be donating this Christmas?

A Christmas Experience

Teaching the kids about the birth of Jesus at Christmas every year is and I think always will be my favourite tradition.

Last night we watched The Christmas Experience together in the lounge room.

While Hiram and Jie fell asleep us girls went on to watch the movie right through.

After the movie Janai said that she leaned two new things about Christs birth. One was how young Mary was and the other was that Joseph wasn't Jesus' father. That Mary was a virgin.

Jeanette also reflected on the importance of the star or angel on our Christmas Tree tops and said that she now iunderstands why they are used.

Nevaeh was worried about Mary not having doctors at the stable but understood that God was with her.

It was everything I wanted this night to be. Jesus is becoming so real to these guys. I just love it..

Gingerbread House Making..

So I know I have been a bit slack with updating our advent activities this year but I just had to share these pics I captured this afternoon while the kids were making their Gingerbread Houses.

Jeanette, Janai, Jie and Nevaeh did the first house while Hiram and Justine napped the afternoon away. But they woke up and did the second house just before dinner..

Tomorrow we have some more fun and exciting things planned so tune into my instagram @melofbacchus for the latest, Otherwise check back here soon!

Knox City Carols by Candlelight

This is our third year in a row of coming over the east side of Melbourne to Knox City's Carols by Candlelight.

My grandfather was at Dads when we arrived and spoiled the kids with pack upon packet of lollies and chocolates.

The kids absolutely loved the fireworks and together we sung Silent Night, Frosty the Snowman, Away in a Manger and Do you hear what I hear before the fireworks lit up the night sky!

I think this is a tradition we just have to keep going for years to come!!

Thanks Knox City Council for this wonderful family event!
