{Day 31} High Schooler

On the 31st of January as the Summer School holidays end for another year my son Jiedyn begins his first year of high school.

Both nervous and excited he left for the 7.30am bus with the girls and reassured me that he would be fine.

This was so hard for me being that I have been there for him every step of the way throughout his education journey, by his side at all major events in his life and now I had to respect his wishes to take these next steps alone.

My son is growing up..

{Day 24} Lake Creswick

Road tripping to Creswick over the holidays was such an emotional drive for me.

After finding out Dad had terminal cancer last year, losing a few good friends and almost losing myself to the grief and pain of it all - Lake Creswick with some new friends was always going to be a good idea.

While driving behind the other three cars I felt this overwhelming sense of appreciation.

Ever since I was young and my Dad would load up the car to take us on camping adventures I had always had the desire to one day be loading up my own car, my brother in his and be looking ahead at their cars as we ventured off.

I was coming to terms that my hope of that happening would never happen.

Dad is too sick and my brother is no longer in the picture.

But, who’s to say God didn’t put this army of amazing people in front of me? To make me feel strong and empowered.

I still catch myself at times getting emotional at the thought of what I’ll lose when Dad does eventually pass away.

But I have to live for today.

And what a day it was..

{Day 19} Girls Night

As much as it was good to get away with the kids, it was so good coming home.
I called up my girls for a much needed night out.

Big thanks to my girls who come out!
And to Jess and a few others for putting up with my drunk antics 🤪

{Day 14-17} Holiday

With three 40 degree days approaching earlier this month, I jumped online to book the kids and I an air-conditioned cabin with an onsite pool. There was no way we were going to stay home in our small brick house comfortably.

The first day/ night we drove down the coast to Geelong’s Riverglen Holiday part where our three bedroom cabin was being cleaned on arrival.

The kids enjoyed the onsite pool and jumping pillow while I had the airconditioner on 22 degrees and watched the tennis in peace.

The real fun started the next afternoon..

The kids and I stayed indoors until the hottest part of the day was done before heading down to Eastern Beach in Geelong to take my Kayak for its first paddle.

All the kids surprised me with how good they were paddling around.

We spent the whole rest of the afternoon/night down there, it was awesome!

Once back at the cabin the kids were tired and hungry and so it was dinner and bed.

I had more fun planned the next day..

Before picking up Hiram from his stay with Chris, I took the kids to a place I’d been eyeing off for a few months now. The Narana Culture Centre.

This place had fought my eye while scrolling on instagram mid last year.

We enjoyed lunch before tasting everything on the dessert menu!

After feeding some emu and kangaroo we went to meet Chris.

The remainder of the night was spent again at the holiday park with the kids showing Hiram all the neat things they could do while I again watched the tennis.

Tricking the kids into thinking it was our last night away I opted for a bit of sight seeing, mocktail tasting and fresh fish sampling.

So we headed to Wah Wah Gee, grabbed ourselves a table and orderded mock-tails!

We also took some time fore some fun summer pics..

Dinner was had at the Geelong Boat House where the owner Malcome taught the kids a thing or two about boat flags.

Most of us ordered fish and chips and ate the lot..

Before heading home we went for a beach walk along eastern beach and chose our favourite ice creams from an ice cream van.

The surprise for the kids the next day was an extra night in Torquay.

The holiday park wasn’t as much fun as the first one but we did travel down to Bells Beachbefore taking the Kayak out again at Torquay beach this time!

All in all it was nice to get away but it was also nice to come home..
