Making news in our family this week is..
Jie and Janai started at Bacchus Marsh College today and both seemed to enjoy their first day.
(More on why they changed schools in my next blog post!)
Hiram didn’t try out for rep basketball this season even though I was approached by the under 14s would-be coach. After a sleepless Saturday night and a lot of thought I chose not to put him in this season mostly because of how big of a commitment it is. Last season even with help I found myself burnt out with nothing left to give. Basketball for one child 5 days a week when I have another 5 children to also look out for is just too much. As a solo parent/aunt it’s just me, I don’t have the luxury of parents or grandparents or aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbours, family friends etc to help me out with my such a massive commitment. I know Hiram loves basketball and has a real gifted talent for the sport but at the end of the day people need to understand and be happy with what I can do. He is in domestic, he loves his panthers team and if basketball is in his future I believe God will make a way!
On Saturday morning, my 14yo son learned to ride a bike! Yep.. you heard right! And if I didn’t see it for myself I would not have believed it! Our dear friend Darren last Wednesday night promised to teach Jie to ride a bike. After a lot of prayer, faith and belief Jie rode a bike all by himself - very proudly at Maddingley Park! Way to go son!!
Last night after Hiram’s Panthers Presentation we took (stolen) balloons to Carmens house in celebration of her daughters 8yo birthday! Together we enjoyed a bbq dinner and Freddo ice cream cake! I took the kids home and doubled back bringing Jie to play board games with Carmen and Noyah! I won ;)
Today, being Monday, my daughter Nevaeh went to school camp. Two nights and three days in Healesville! She packed her suitcase with her big cousins so don’t ask me what she took! I’m hoping she took enough socks and undies for her trip! While waiting for the bus this morning she told me she took a bra. Never ever has she worn a bra hahah.. that’s older siblings for ya!
Also I just want to mention that Jeanette and Janai made the most amazing fried rice the other night! I didn’t even help them! I love seeing my nieces in the kitchen learning and acing the art of cooking! A great life skill they’ll need throughout their lives.
And last but not least, I’m hosting a Girls Night Out tomorrow night! Inbox me for details. With Nevaeh away at camp I thought it would be the perfect time to catch up with my friends! Can’t wait!!
And so you’re all caught up and I’m beat.. time for bed from me here! Over and out!!
