On the first day of our trip to the Gold Coast we all got up at 7.30am excited and ready to go!
We packed our bags the night before with all the summery stuff we own (which wasn't much because we live in one of the colder areas of Australia) and made sure that sunscreen, drink bottles and sunglasses were on our carry on luggage.
David took the day off to drive us to the Airport and once there we checked our luggage in and then grabbed a bite to eat.
The take off was the worst one I've experienced with the plane lifting me right off my seat and jolting up and down. But once we were higher the plane became smoother for the remainder of the flight.
Here are the very first pics we took of our trip:
Once at the Gold Coast airport we had to find our bus to take us to the Hotel which was a mission of its own.
The bus to the Hotel was fine, upon check in of the hotel we found out that there was a $250 deposit which wasn't mentioned by the Travel Agent I went through and so we were already $250 down on the first day!
After we settled into our room I was keen to show the kids Ripley's Believe it or Not and Surfers Paradise itself so we went to the main strip and I took the kids on their first look of the Gold Coast!
Here are some photos of us at Ripley's:
And here are some photos of us at the Surfers Paradise Beach:
We opted for dinner options close by, sitting at Guzman Y Gomez to eat our desired preferences. Nevaeh ordered a Cheeseburger Stunner Meal from Hungry Jacks, I ordered the $3 tacos from GYG and Jie took on the Big Queenslander burger from Grill'd.

We too a slow walk back to the hotel, watched Big Brother and then settled in to watch the Lightning Storm from our Hotel Window.
Highlights of the trip were:
Me not being able to cross the Ripley's Bridge as it was giving me vertigo.
Nevaeh being scared of the Chief at Ripley's.
Jie getting the window seat and a whole bed to himself for the whole duration of the trip!
