Freakin' Out!

Something I don't do often is freak out. I always seem to be the one who has it all figured out and can pretty much handle anything head on.. With a past like mine I kind of learnt how to make the most of what I had and savour the good memories in quite possibly the worst situations.

With all that said, it's something I have taken into adulthood and may be partly the reason why I blog. I see myself as a positive person and like to attract positive people into my life and into the lives of those around me.

So the reason why I'm freaking out is because yesterday, last night and this morning I was left to run things at home since being married. Up until now everything at home is run like clock work and everyone has a part to play. I never thought for a second that with Matt away just for the night how completely chaotic things become.

Our normal after school routine consists of word lists and readers, cooking dinner, sitting at the table together, prayer, eating, bathing Nevaeh, Showering Jiedyn, bedtime stories and lights out by 7pm.

Our normal morning routine is Daddy waking Jie up, putting on Toasted TV, crankin' the heater, getting clothes out, making breakfast, making sure Jie looks neat, his lunch box and drink bottle are in his bag, that he has his puffer, reader bag, wallet and bus money. Putting Nevaeh in my bed if she has woken up while he walks Jie to the bus stop. This is done the same way everyday.. and all while I am in bed.

So just to make sure we're on the same page, Matt is the hero of our family..

Now onto Without Matt for one night.......

Yesterday's After school routine went something like this. (Don't laugh!) Nevaeh and I picking Jiedyn up from the bus stop with Jie running off the bus and Nevaeh running to get on. An uncontrolled (but safe) walk home. Kids fighting over who wants to watch what on video. Kids begging for Pizza for tea. About a million "Where's Dad?" questions. Nevaeh running around in her knickers proud as punch that she used the toilet while I'm trying to have Jie read to me. Bath together, Pizza ordered, water and powder everywhere, Lady demanding money for the pizza, me trying to find my purse, Nevaeh and Jie fighting over a chair, No prayer, Kids fighting over food while demanding drinks.. One book for both kids and both asleep by 7pm.

3am, Nevaeh up, Cat's wake Jie up, Me trying to chase the cats down the other end like a loony, Nevaeh wanting to brush her teeth, comb her hair, read a book, put a CD on and sleep in Jie's bed. Jie wanting a drink, another drink, to sleep in my bed and have the cats back. Jie and Nevaeh singing twinkle-twinkle from each of they're rooms, then fighting over who's footy team is better before arguing with each other to Be Quiet... Jie fell back to sleep around 4, Nevaeh kept getting out of bed, having tea parties, sneaking her light on, reading maisy regardless of the smacks, yelling and counting I was doing to make her get back into bed. She was sure putting up a fight saying "Daddy do it" and "I not like you, me like Daddy" and was still awake at 6am, I gave up, had enough and fell asleep, woke up at 6.30 to the alarm and she had the toilet full with all the toilet paper we had left. One final smack and she was asleep..

7am, Jie got up, had breaky, got dressed, read his reader, watched cartoons, brushed his hair, packed his bag and was soon asking where Dad was too. I knew I couldn't wake Nevaeh up, and I couldn't get hold of Matt who said he'd be home to walk Jie to the bus stop. I had no other choice but to meet both of my kids half way. I stood on the corner and could see my front door as well as a full view of the street Jie was now walking down toward the bus stop. Once there, he ran all the way back. "I'm scared Mum, I need you.." We prayed and just as we'd finished a girl who catches his bus also walked with him, talked with him and he was soon pausing to wave to me. There he was.. Growing up! Although it's not something he'll be doing a lot of in the future, I'm glad he did it and took that one step towards independence.

Nevaeh woke up as soon as I got through the door.. I've had an hours sleep and am now waiting for Matt to come home. If I learnt anything from this it's that I not only love my husband, but things are better with him around. I tend to forget that most days..

Our dirty little secret..

Over the last 5 years our backyard has turned into a tip. Here in Bacchus Marsh there is no hard rubbish removals and our shire does not offer tip vouchers. For a single parent to fork out hundreds of dollars for rubbish removals is near inpossible, but with help from the family tex benifit mid-year one off payment, we made it work. $480 dollars for a bin to finally get rid of our dirty little secret!

So that is what Matt and I are doing today while Nevaeh is asleep and Jiedyn is watching a movie after 30 minutes of computer time. I'm thrilled to finally be able to open my gates without having to quickly close them behind me again..

What is your dirty little secret?
What are you hiding?

To perfection..

"Let me sing" the little one said..

and so she did..
"We are the Navy Blues,
we are the old dark navy Blues,
we're the team that never let's you down,
we're the only team old Carlton knows.
With all the champions,
they like to send us, we'll keep our end up,
And they will know that they've been playing,
against the famous old dark Blues!"

Something New & Something FREE!

Jiedyn returns to school tomorrow for the second half of his first year in grade Prep.

Jie went to bed tonight excited about seeing his teacher and school friends tomorrow. Brushing his teeth and tucking himself in straight after dinner.

Tonight after watching a dreadful Aussie series you probably read about while on twitter tonight called The Shire, I was going to watch one of my all time favorite weekly programs called Four Corners. This didn't happen because I have a neighbour who hogs the reception most days/nights. They have 4 satalite dishes for only God knows making me wish they we're in bed.. I tell you, I once had a plan to send them an invitation to dinner at the local golf club just so I could watch my show. It was a great thought, them driving 15 minutes away then 15 minutes back would be just enough time to watch it.. I would never actually go through with it though..

Anyways because I couldn't watch 4 corners tonight I grabbed out Jiedyn's uniform out and Ironed it.  For the past two weeks it had been stuffed into his draws along with everything else and was creased and craving some love.

I warmed the clothes up, and before I could even think about how long it was since I ironed my own clothes (year 10 in high school) the clothes looked they're best once more.

It felt great to have time to iron and I even left the ironing board out for future use.

But for right now, I am going to read. A lovely blogger, I follow wrote a book earlier this year called Weak and Loved (Click here to view is on GoodReads) where she tells a story of how she learns about God’s love for her daughter, her husband, her other children, and ultimately God’s love for her.. The Ebook is FREE at the moment on Amazon (Click here to get your copy) I got my copy today as well as a box of tissues and chocolate.. Thank you Emily for sharing your story, I have loved reading your blog and for anyone interested, she blogs here..

Record.. Get your Record!

This morning I woke up so un-motivated. Matt was out running errands all day and all the kids seemed to do was argue and fight over everything. I sent them both to they're rooms for an afternoon sleep after lunch which Nevaeh fell into rather quickly. Jie, no, no afternoon sleep. It seems that these days he has an answer for everything..

By the time Nevaeh woke up the house was semi clean and two loads of washing had been washed. As I went to hang it out it was amazing how fast the kids we're out the back with me! First begging to push them on the swings before picking up the footy and asking to be tackled.

I drew some goal posts..
And soon we we're all kicking goals!
There was even some tackling! After beggin' and buggin' moi!
Dad got home to hear the final siren.. Jie was excited to tell him that he had kicked 4 in a row. He went on to joke about how I got more out on the full than Nevaeh.. Dad cut up some oranges and bottled up water for us..
I so love creating moment with and for my kids..
And love that I have someone to share it with..
Tonight we're having Hot Pies, Cold drinks watching Friday night footy!

Now I'm thinking - Play Group!

Nevaeh has been getting really bored at home lately so I pulled out one of the most messiest toys in the house - her Geometric Stacker. As you can see from the photo there are a couple of rings missing (which is to be expected after having it for 2 years) but that didn't stop her today from showing us her color coordination and shape organisation skills. I was so very impressed with her and (for once) she was very proud of herself enough to want to have a picture taken!

Well done Missy, Nana would be so very proud of you too..

Imagine..

Three years ago to this very day a beautiful soul left this earth. Today I am not sad, I'm very much glad that our beloved Nana was set free from her horrible reality and believe that she is now in heaven with her creator. You see, our Nana was treated disrespectfully while on this earth by the ones she loved so dearly.

Imagine having your money striped from you before you even had a chance to spend it. Imagine being told who you can or can't talk to, visit, have over to your own house and being lied to about people you treasure only in your heart. Imagine sitting in a granny flat out the back of your daughters house eating beetroot sandwiches to the smell of KFC or a Sunday Roast you so loved, cooked by a son-in-law who would rather lock the back door than have you in his home majority of the time..

Imagine having your daughter live metres from you but never invite you in for a coffee or come out and sit with you even for a little while. Imagine the feeling of having to ask for a cigarette and being told to get the smoke butts out of the ash tray's out the back and from car ash trays. Or having a weak bladder and having only one packet of pads that would last you 5 days max and having to go the rest of the fortnight wearing towels.

Imagine your daughter having a say in what food you buy, medication you take, who you can and can't call on your own phone and having to pay petrol to get to your doctor appointment's. Asking to go to bingo then having to get your grand-daughter to pay for a taxi because your daughter left without you because she is a selfish pig. Then walking into the room and have your daughter look at you and roll her eyes as if she didn't want you there.

Imagine having grandchildren that disrespect you and tell you what your doing wrong and how you should be living your life. Imagine having $50 for food then those same grandchildren take the last of your bread or salada's that was supposed to do you for the week. Then imagine you going into your daughters house and asking for a potato or some bread and being told to support yourself proparly, not by your daughter or even her husband but the very kids that ate your lasts.

Imagine your grand daughter doing your make up and hair for a night out, feeling good about yourself only to be told to go and remove it because you look like shit by your controlling daughter followed by "Your not coming with me looking like that!"

Imagine not being able to breathe, having to sit on your ventilator for hours and still struggling. Imagine your daughter and her eldest daughter walking in your granny flat at around 8pm telling you to turn it off and that your fine and to stop being silly. Imagine yourself out of breathe begging to go back on it because you couldn't breate. Imagine not being able to sleep for four nights then going into your daughters house and being able to breath and fall asleep on the couch in front of the air conditioner. Imagine your grandson waking you up saying "Nana, go into your granny flat if you want to sleep, I'm trying to watch wrestling and can't hear it over your snoring" so you take the slow walk back to your granny-flat and feel as though your suffocating again.

And imagine two spoilt dogs, being served the same dinner as the family every night and you (hungry) being told "Oh, I only made enough for us."

Imagine your last week in hospital wanting to make things right with your neice, see her, speek to her but your daughter again controlling who can and can't go visit you..

Imagine you, in your last hours asking not to be alone, for your family not to leave you then dying your worst fear - alone..

Imagine having "Never Alone" written on your grave stone and michael jacksons song "You are not alone" played at your funeral when you lived your whole life in your daughters backyard feeling - ALONE!

I will never forgive my Aunty or Uncle for the way my Nana was treated while on this earth. She was beautiful, humble, giving, honest, loyal and never said anything bad about anyone (that she truely meant). She loved everyone, she would give her last if it meant she went without and would always make you feel like the most important person in the world while in her house. I miss her every day, but I know I'll see her again! She is in the hands of our LORD and I believe faithfully that she is now not Alone..

Sweet Memories on Saturday..

This is a video I captured on my phone when Jiedyn was just 2 years old. As you watch it note that he doesn't know how to jump yet.. He just moves his arms as if his feet are coming off the ground!
So sweet..
This post has been auto posted as my Dad, my uncle, Jie and me are all at the footy today.
So enjoy!

A Hunk-of-Junk!

We always knew that there were monsters in our house. And the last place we'd ever think of looking would be in our recycling box. But today we rammaged through boxes, papers, bottles and saw potential.

I added glue sticks, markers, and rulers to the table and soon the monsters were coming together.
Jiedyn found an egg carton which made a fabulous monster..

He named him Freddie!

I helped Nevaeh make a monster out of a used Nugget box and we made him his own monster house with last weeks tissue box. His name was "Munching Monster"

Jie also made a telescope out of a bottle and some brown paper bags.
The kids played with they're monsters happily together until dinner time. Dancing, chomping and chasing the other monster around out home. They had lots of fun.

Who would have thought a hunk of junk would bring so much joy, enjoyment and diversion?
