Derby Day at Pop's + Melbourne Cup Day!

Derby Day at Dads was celebrated sweetly as it also fell on Halloween. My Pop, the kid's great grandfather bought over Trick or Treat chocolate and lollies and the kids were all over him. Dad cooked up the rainbow trout the kids caught weeks ago (see this post) and cleaned up in the races winning multiple place bets. The next day was slow with all of us having late nights and the train ride home was a nightmare. But Justine and Hiram, my niece and nephew finally got to meet Luke. He is a fish at the Boronia aquarium my kids always rave on about and visiting him has turned into a tradition when we are in town. This time was no different.

Melbourne Cup morning was quiet. The boys picked their horses as the girls watched Doc McStuffins on netflix. I signed up for sportsbet online so I didn't have to go to the TAB with the kids which is apparently illegal this year. I backed my favorite trainer in all of the races and a roughy in the second race. I got a few place bets but no winners. Nevaeh was the only winner on the day picking up $4.20 on her horse which placed second. Max Dynamite. She spent her winnings at the canteen today! It was good to enjoy this Melbourne Cup at home completely stress free.
