TDOC KIRRIP Christmas Party

As we wait for photos to come back lets just reflect back on all that was one of the best KIRRIP Aboriginal Corporation Christmas Parties ever.

As you walk into KIRRIP you are greeted by the beautiful Lita, Cheetah and Aunty Dawn for your Christmas Card from KIRRIP Staff and the Board as well as a free raffle ticket to win one of four jolly big Christmas hampers of donated food and confectionery.

As you make your way down the hall towards Santa, Tom is busy in the back ground preparing your children's gifts which have also been donated by another org which have been wrapped and sorted into age groups.

Lucy introduces the families to "Koorie Klause" whom is Keenan dressed in a Santa suit that is barely staying together but somehow he makes it work as he greets and smiles for the camera with the families huddled around him and even at times holding babies in his arms.

A highlight of the day was when a few littlies came back after their photos to dance with him. It was truly a gift to see these little ones doing "shake a leg" with "Santa".

After the Santa pic its gift time with kids of all ages ripping open the neatly folded presents in which Ben, Lita, Graham and I wrapped days before, to find their special treasures inside.

After all that excitement, it was time to say goodbye to Santa and head out the back to for a sausage sizzle and drink.

Tables were set up outside and it was awesome to still see families and elders sitting out in the cool shade of our beautiful twenty degree day when I left at around 1pm.

Another highlight of the day was seeing all the elders in the community together for a photo with "Koorie Klause" and watching them open and be thrilled by their $50 Coles/Woolies vouchers.

It's times like these we as a community get to be together to share the joy at Christmas and to know that in our community, no-one goes without.

Photo's to be added later.
